Ready, Set, Go!

Ready, Set, Go!

Hello, parents and students!  Welcome to a new year of fun and learning. Summer was wonderful and we hate to see it go, and yet, it is great to see our old friends and meet new ones and begin the next chapter of life.

I hope everyone did a little bit of drawing or painting or working with their tools over the break. There will be a lot of ruler use, measuring, scissor use, and tracing shapes for the younger grades.  We will work on seasonal projects and projects that relate to the class curriculum.  The upper grades will have some challenging projects which will give them a chance to stretch their skills.

As always, bringing a smock or cover-up of some kind to class is required.  Those who do not will miss opportunities to use paints, charcoal, oil pastels, and other potentially messy mediums because of the risk to their uniforms.  Coming prepared to class is part of their grade, as well.  Sometimes we use them, sometimes we don’t, but it is always good to have them just in case.  The smocks rarely have to be washed unless something from a lunchbox spills on them. They can keep them in their backpacks, cubbies, lockers, or wherever their teacher requests them to be. Please check the schedule below for art class times.
