OLOH School COVID-19 Update

OLOH School COVID-19 Update

March 23, 2020

Dear Parents:

As I am sure many of you have heard, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Governor Northam has declared that all public and private schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia are closed through the remainder of this academic year. This will of course include Our Lady of Hope Catholic School. Our school is accredited by two organizations in Virginia; the Virginia Council for Private Education and the Virginia Catholic Education Association. These organizations in conjunction with the Arlington Diocese through our Office of Catholic Schools will be providing some guidance to finish out the school year. This decision brings with it many questions which I will be able to answer in the coming days.

I was on a teleconference call this afternoon with Dr. Joseph Vorbach, Superintendent of the Arlington Diocesan Schools. He, along with the Office of Catholic Schools staff, will also be working with the schools to ensure that our students continue to learn and move forward in their educational pursuits. It is our expectation that we will continue our eLearning communities for the remainder of this school year. Again, as decisions are made to guide us through the last trimester of the school year, I will be able to answer the many questions I am sure you have.

It deeply saddens me that our school community will not be able to return to our beautiful school building for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Please join me in prayer that all of our families and staff remain healthy and that our joy will be great when we can come together again in person.

May God bless you and your families,

Mary Beth Pittman, Principal
