Battle of the Books
The Our Lady of Hope Battle of the Books (BOB) Book Club is a voluntary reading program that is open to 5th & 6th grade students and part of a reading enrichment program offered to students in Catholic K-8 schools in the Diocese of Arlington. During the course of the school year participating students read from a pre-selected list of 12 books and engage in a variety of activities to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the books read. In the spring, teams of 5th and/or 6th grade students representing each participating school meet for the annual “Battle of the Books” competition. The “Battle” is similar to the “It’s Academic” or “College Bowl” event where teams from each school are asked questions about the books on the list.
We meet several times a month after school to keep up with the required reading of all 12 books.
